Like a scene of an Alfred Hitchcock’s film, the new “Black Car” video clip by Beach House coming from their recent album entitled “7” justifies those, me among them as well, who believe that this specific one is definitely the best album of the year so far. Directed by Victoria’s brother, Alistair Legrand depicts a self-driving black car . The black and white clip finds its namesake cruising through an empty, ominous city before veering into the barren countryside.
Undoubtedly, the gloominess of the video clip is ideally suited to the dream car of “Black Car“, creating an insuperable sense of wandering. «You want to go, inside the cold, it’s a tomb, but it’s something to hold, and in the time before it ends, when the stillness bends”.
It’s not the first time that Alistair Legrand directs a Beach House video clip. Alistair previously directed the band’s videos for “Silver Soul” and “Heart of Chambers“. His unique style seems to have won over Mark Lanegan, trusting him with the responsibility of directing “The Gravedigger’s Song” back in 2012.
